Mary Ann Schomer has served as an RSVP volunteer for about nine years. Once a teacher, always a teacher, she reads and reminisces regularly with residents of Harmony House of Pierz. Mary Ann, who taught 41 years at Ripley Elementary School in Litchfield before retiring to Lastrup, gathers in the living room each Friday with her reading family.

It gives me a great sense of satisfaction. I hope I’m helping someone for just a little bit. Just seeing another face sometimes helps them [residents] remember. I have two ladies who really thank me for brightening their day. ~Mary Ann Schomer
