Announces Scholarship Opportunities

For Class of 2017

Horizon Health Inc., a non-profit health care provider, is offering seven health care scholarships for graduating seniors.   Horizon Health provides services in Brainerd, Little Falls, Motley, Randall and Pierz.  Scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $300.00 each to graduating seniors chosen from each of the following Schools:  

    • Brainerd
    • Little Falls
    • Pierz
    • Royalton
    • Staples/Motley
    • Swanville
    • Upsala 

High School seniors who plan to continue their education to pursue careers in health services, social work, or long term care are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must have maintained a high school grade point average of 3.0 or higher and plan on a program lasting nine months or more.  Recipients will be chosen on the basis of scholastic and school achievement, home and community involvement, and an essay describing their educational goals.  Students may obtain scholarship application forms from their high school counselor or Horizon Health.

Horizon Health 2017 Scholarship Guidelines 

  1. Horizon Health will award a maximum of seven (7) scholarships annually in the amount of $300.00 each to graduating seniors chosen from each of the following Schools: 
  • Brainerd
  • Little Falls High School
  • Pierz High School
  • Royalton High School
  • Staples/Motley High School
  • Swanville High School
  • Upsala High School
  1. Applicants must have maintained a high school grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  1. Applicants must be entering into the field of health services, social work, or long-term care.  The student must plan on a program lasting nine months or more. 
  1. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of scholastic and school achievement, home and community involvement, and an essay describing their educational goals.  Preference will be given to applicants who have worked or volunteered in a health care facility.  Please submit a letter of reference from the health provider.
  1. The selection committees will be designated by the participating schools.  Applications should be returned by the local school’s deadline.
  1. Selections will be made and announced at the Scholarship Awards program at the high school of the student selected.

Payment of scholarship will be made upon successful completion of first quarter or semester from the institution of their choice and with proof of registration for second quarter or semester.
